I personally don’t like the journalism style of Jorge Ramos. Some time he seems intimidating and tries to push the limits with whomever he is interviewing, be it at president of a country or a celebrity, you name it. However it surprise me that Mr. Donald Trump, the famous billionaire, as he claims himself to be – famous for his “raw & exaggerated way of talking”, the tough business man of NY, had to have his security detail remove Jorge Ramos from his recent press conference in Iowa. Why did this happen? It was not until someone in the audience, mention that “even President Obama could take the heat, face to face in an interview with the renowned journalist”, was Jorge Ramos allowed back in to Trump’s press conference.
It is not the first time Mr. Trump behaves this way by attacking journalists. In the first GOP presidential, debate in August 6th, Mr. Trumped lashed out to Megyn Kelly, the debate moderator and Fox journalist, because she question Mr. Trump’s past references towards women. Shortly after the televised debate, Mr. Trump went on social media and television disparaging Megyn Kellly’s professionalism and impartiality. Mr. Trump went as far as starting stating that Megyn Kelly did a poor job moderating the debate because she had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever”. I ask all of you, is this the way presidential candidate should respond to the press?
After eight years of having a President, who is well educated, well spoken, balance emotionally and a true “Conciliator”, all qualities that seems to annoy many people on right, it looks to me that a majority of the GOP supporters are eager to go back to the “wild, wild west style that Mr. Trump want to bring to the White House”.
You may not agree with some, or all the policies that President Obama has done, but numbers do not lie. Our Economy has grown steadily since he has taken office (pulling us out of one of the worst recessions in recent years). Unemployment has fallen to single digits and the overall outlook for America is positive. Under his administration, Bin Laden was captured and killed. His administration undertook the revamping of the VA, to better serve our veterans, so that they may receive the health care that our heroes deserve. Our trading & political relationships, around the world, have improved. The “Negotiator and Conciliator President”, does not look for America to “tackle world problems on its own”, but to get other countries to participate and pull their fair weight.
Under President Obama, our immigration security has improved. More deportation have taken place under Obama’s administration, than any previous administrations, in case some of you still think he is “soft on immigration”. During this administration, we all witnessed how gay marriage was approved and recognized by many states and eventually by the Federal Government, via the recent Supreme Court ruling. We can now proudly say that “all individuals have equal rights under the law”.
There is still a lot of work to be done. Racial discrimination and tensions, within the American society, needs to be addressed and we have to be tackled root cause of this, being inequality in resources/pay, poverty and education.
A true comprehensive and humane immigration plan needs to be implemented, which not only addressed the 11 million humans beings that are currently in the US, but that also stems the flow of “undocumented” immigrants crossing the border. “Deal with the individuals who are here now and stop more from coming in, undocumented”.
Under President Obama, we have improve, and I feel that we, as a country, are better off now than before he took office. There is still a lot of work to be done and many challenges that our country will face, but you must ask yourself if Mr. Donald Trump is the right person to lead us and represent us in the world stage.
I am not white and I am not billionaire. However I am a minority, I am a woman and I am a proud Hispanic. All characteristics that Mr. Trump dislikes, as far as I can see. Oh, I forgot to mentioned that, yes I am “legally documented” via marring to an American citizen for the past 23 years. I have paid all my taxes, and I have performed my civil duties. Because of all of this, I have the right to call United State “MY COUNTRY”.
