Journalism the power of the past, present and the future

The journalist have been admire, respect or terrified, or just been keep away instantly either if you are politician, actor, or even an athlete. In this space we commemorate the 50th anniversary of one of our collaborators, the journalist Luis Ariel Ramos Alarcon y Guzman (Ariel Ramos known for years). He is the platform knowledge of this Company and a role model not only because his professional accomplishments but as well as his vision of world of values, integrity and humanity believes.

He have been a journalist covering the news every one fears (like a version of an MD in the Emergency Area), later a political journalist (with a formal column) probably not with the fear of see the dead, but to be dead because the fear of words been publish, later became an Editor, the man who will decide what will bring the reader closer to the news an closer to buy the news paper, and after many years doing what he loves the most, he became the Head Master of the News Paper, he became the man behind the power of a news paper of that same news paper who saw a boy became a man for 25 years.

After years past, he keep up changing the lives of students, became a teacher and a mentor for many of the new successful journalist in Mexico, and keep his long labor as a faithful father for his four children and an endless husband for almost 45 years.

He’s been in his life so controversial the way he wrote, as the Editor of “El Universal” that his presence feels like an earthquake, also in his private life. When you meet him you became passionate with him in an instant. When you read his articles or even hear the narrative of his experiences, or interviews or meetings of him, like the picture above, you will transport immediately to another dimension. He wrote in a time were Latin America change dramatically, when been a journalist was dangerous profession, when images of freedom became a flag in many of this countries, a times were values were not just a world but a way to live.

So does Journalist have change with the years? The Journalism yes without doubts, there are better tools, gadgets, instant messaging, devices that will give the normal user to have the advantage to speed the news. Even this tools recently, if you may be lucky enough to have it with you in the middle of a Tornado, or natural catastrophe, or any situation can may transform you in a journalist instantly and become famous for a couple days world wide.

So what does make a good journalist different with the years? Many of today journalist will said nothing, they may state the catch of the news still the same, the adrenalin to be in the action will be the same and there in little doubt of it when we see in T.V. many of this brave young men and woman travel in the middle of wars, conflict or just political disagreements.

We have to consider there is a main factor in that enormous different of journalism of today, the one that will make us read a news and even the stomach will twist, or that one that news “still have it”, have the enough ability to maintain the readers along for at least more than the 10 large minutes with you. In this times were we adjust to every thing coming with speed, even instant RSS or i-news are music to our ears, even some may claim that interviews have change as well, not respectfully but more casual, does values of interviews or even romantic writing have left to the novelist solely, does values have been send to an old file, lock away too many of our today’s eyes in the news.

The “old” style, like Ariel Ramos is “the old romantic journalism way”, the detailed news, the way they facts have been write may still take our breath away, even with the new gadgets we still remember does interviews he made, like the picture above, to one of the most important Presidents of United States, President Ronald Reagen. When no matter what was your personal preference in a political party, you will always maintain a neutral line, why? Simple, was a DUTY, a duty to the readers to keep the news, that news impartial, keep a news as detail as possible, and describe it like if you were walking behind that journalist. That is Ariel Ramos a great example for the next generation of journalist, the next generation of Latin America future to keep us in close to the “last news”.
